Party time

My niece and nephew in a classic photo from my sister Maureen.

My late Aunt Barbara gave me this cookbook, probably my favorite one, Farm Journal's "Country Cooking," published in 1959. I love things from that era. Made some cupcakes with Seven Minute frosting to take to the International Thanksgiving at the high school. I'm going with Brian and Phyllis in a few minutes. I wonder what country gave us the cupcake? No time to look it up now. I think I hear Phyllis in the driveway.

No time to work on food styling, I've got to GO!

  1. Too funny. The cupcakes remind me of a time that my friend Katie and I tried to make whoopie pies, which Dad used to love, with not quite all of the ingredients. It is true, we found out, that baking really is an exact "science". We learned the hard way that water was, in fact, not a good substitute for milk.
You, Mary, however defy this theory as you are able to create the most delicious food without recipes!

  2. thanks for posting this pic Mary. We had a busy but fun halloween. Since then, the Superman cape has not left his body. It is so fun to watch how seriously Matt takes this role. He is following in the footsteps of Marc according to his Dad. He too lived his childhood days as a caped Superhero.
