No country for middle age yokels

While we were traipsing around the woods of western Massachusetts yesterday looking for a bar, Ana (my daughter) and her boyfriend Peter were driving back to L.A. from Mercedes, Texas, on the Mexican border, where Ana's grandparents live. They got caught in snow in Fort Stockton, Tx., before they made it to El Paso.
The pics she sent call to mind the movie we saw Friday night, "No Country for Old Men." I thought it really captured the atmosphere of Texas despite having a few abrupt plot elements I disapproved of. When I lived in Texas (for 10 years), I was a little more nervous than I usually am around here, feeling kind of exposed in the big open spaces, as though something could come down from the sky and smite me.

  1. Nice photos Mary Carey, and nice to "meet" your daughter and her boyfriend.
