I got a fancy new MacBook for my birthday a couple of months back and this is the first picture I've taken with it and posted on the blog!
The journalism students are always pointing out interesting things. I find this video produced by Dove mesmerizing.
Check out this Web site a student alerted me to. It's a fun, never-ending vocabulary test. For every answer you get right, the sponsors claim they'll donate 10 grains of rice to the hungry. Some of the students said they find it addicting. Love the word "arriviste" I got.

Dove turns the seductive power of advertising to good use in a public service announcement for parents who are unaware of how the idealization of the female image in advertising and media can be counter-productive to a young women's self-esteem.
It is good that the Dove videos include faces. Many of these campaigns emphasize the body too much, as opposed to faces. I think no one who is over- or under-weight should feel bad or undeserving of common respect, etc., but at the same time we all should all try to be in some kinda shape, so showing thin/fit to the extent of promoting health, and also enjoying that image too, is not bad. But the cult of pretty faces we all fall into is to me worse in that you can't do much about your bone structure and it has nothing to do with health, so worshiping impossible ideals there have no useful purpose and can only do harm to not-so-"ideal" looking kids, so while we all of course like pretty faces now, it would be good to "evolve" away from that if at possible...
