Cranberry Fair Triumph

Bought this pretty pink English tea set for $10 at the First Congregational Church's Cranberry Fair today. I am a rummage sale goer from way back.

The goal is to be at the front door BEFORE the fair begins, then get a number to get into the Collectibles room. I got number 23 and was told there would be about a 10 minute wait. The seasoned church sale shopper never just stands in line, though. Not this early in the game.

After quickly perusing the White Elepant room, I beelined it to the Travel Treasures table in the silent auction room, a real sleeper of a place to find great things. Like me, people were expertly sizing up things before deciding which table to inspect first. I opted NOT to buy anything, as I could lose precious time.

YESSS! Just as I get back to the collectibles room, the gatekeeper calls my number. PERFECT timing. Still in the game after all these years.
Sarah Mager and Paul Jones sell me my pink tea set. "This is my favorite church sale," I told Jones. "We don't know what we're doing," he responded. "At the end of the day we OWE money."

Phyllis and I compare purchases.

Pretty in pink Tofurkey.

Some International Club members said there would be a surprise performance at the end of the club's International Thanksgiving last night. This WAS quite a surprise.

  1. This afternoon, at about 4 o'clock, you'll have to have a tea party with your newly acquired pretty-in-pink tea set and some cupcakes (named not because their made in a cup but because the ingredients are measured by volume not weight, which really speeds up the baking process :p

  4. Anon -- The teas set had no tea pot, although there is a creamer and sugar holder. There must have been a tea pot at one time, but the china is so delicate, I would not be surprised if it had broken. Anon 2 there is another church sale in Amherst Dec. 1 I recommend at Grace Church. Perfect for a spot of cupcake, 'Reilly.
